fire island

I hung out with the eastern european crowd this past weekend out at Robert Moses State Park @ the western tip of Fire Island. Quite a contrast to the following day's outing to Coney Island...as you can see the beach was not packed at all considering the holiday weekend.

I love the fact that one can go from dirt & grime to something so serene as this beach in about an hour's time...

The Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, Women's Suffrage...all so I could eat this lovely Sprit of America snacky cake on the Fourth of July.
